| dc.description.abstract | This paper examines the transition occurring in Indian society. For centuries Indian culture, society and its social design is anchored in the traditional agrarian ethos. In the context of this ethos the paper discusses i) the macro-analysis of the Indian ethos and culture, ii) micro-analysis of its institutions and iii) micro-analysis of individuals and unit communities. It further identifies the processes of the Indian ethos viz. the psycho-cultural processes, the social design, the social infrastructures, and the value assumptions as held by the Indian society. The Indian psyche carries the Indian ethos as its heritage in the emotional map of the society and people. The transition to the technological industrial society gives rise to a different experiential ethos leading to emergent new maps of the society. The Indian society and individuals have to make choices in the context of this transition and their choices will shape the emergence of todayzs society and organizations. | en |
