Indian technology policy : use of new & traditional technologies
Abstract
The debate on Technology policy in India is not a recent phenomenon. The Indian Technology Policy has tried to maintain a balance between the anti-modern technological view of Gandhian philosophy and new modern technologies. The net result is pluralization of society in terms of benefits gained by different parts of society from different levels of technologies. Technology policy has been a major subject of debate and discussions in India during the 1970's. The technology policy in India over the period, has gone through a number of important changes both in emphasis and content. Inspite of these changes, there remained a socio-political compulsion to maintain a semblance of the continuity of the basic objectives.
