dcterms.abstractThe Independent Project on ''Exploring the feasibility of Online/ Telephone Retailing of FMCG Products'', intends to explore the feasibility and scope of online and telephone retailing in India.It starts with a macro- enviroment scan of the Indian online and Tele retailing market.The report then clarifies concepts pertaining to virtual retailing and the complexities involved.The report further explores the success as well as failure stories of online as well as Tele- retailers.This section contrasts FMCG/ grocery retailing with other forms of online/ Tele- retailing in the Indian context.The report then unwinds the cost structures of a typical tale-retailer in India.Finally,a broad sustainable model for online retail is suggested.The findings in the report are based on the critical study of a cocktail of researchers and supplemented by findings by a small primary research survey.
