dc.description.abstract | Abstract
A National System of Innovation (NSI) is a combination of factors that decide the level and the kind of innovative activities in the country. The innovative activities are directed towards new development or refinement of existing articles, be it services or products or processes. Consequently, an NSI is the governing factor in the amount and the kind of new, or improved, services, products and processes. In the current economic scenario, innovation drives private and national success. The need for innovation is widespread, and work on how to accelerate innovation in a country is critical. The objective of the project is to be able to identify what are the key constituents of the National System of Innovation in India. This is necessary so as to be able to formulate more effective policies that drive innovation for social and economic welfare of the country. The report outlines the success India has had due to the historical focus on development of Science and Technological excellence. It also outlines how these initiatives faltered in the wake of misdirected policy formulation by the governments of that era. Finally it presents the current picture of the Indian NSI.
NSI of India The authors present the concept of NSI from their own viewpoint taking into consideration the in applicability of the previous research done in the European context. We have tried to present the factors that we believe are applicable to India. | en_US |
