Stress and Our Inner Game
Abstract
Over the course of evolution, humankind has become so absorbed in overcoming external challenges that we have neglected our need to focus on our inner challenges. If we focus on our Inner Game, it is likely that we will evolve to understand human development and the inner skills that one has to acquire to succeed in any work. Thus, this is a process of self-discovery that makes contributions to not just the growth and development of the individual but also to the world we live in. There are two games involved in any activity we do. One is the outer game played to overcome external obstacles and win external prizes. The other is the Inner Game played against internal mental and emotional obstacles in order to achieve the reward of knowledge and expression of one’s true potential. Both games go on simultaneously. The secret is in the fact that by winning our inner game we give ourselves a much greater chance of winning the external (outer) game. The challenge however is ‘Can we stop ourselves from stopping ourselves?’
