The policies implemented for air quality management are tools used to manage acceptable air quality levels. The various policies are formulated in ways that are specific to a country’s needs and requirements. While some countries have full-fledged regulatory management framework in place, various others are in the process of formulating plans to tackle with the problem of deteriorating air quality. The success of any air quality management policy implementation depends on the policy objective, control strategies and public participation. The report presents a comprehensive review of the various air quality policies implemented across the globe. Further, some of the most polluted cities in India are analyzed and few recommendations are presented for implementing some of these strategies in the Indian context.
