    Abstract
Emotional Intelligence (EI) can be defined as the ability to perceive, apprehend and manage emotions. It can be applied to both self and others. The previous decade has seen much of the overall research done in this field. Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer coined the term Emotional Intelligence in 1990 describing it as “a form of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor one’s own and others’ feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them, and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and action.”
