Understanding solar industry marketing plan for solar micro grids for the bottom of pyramid segment
Abstract
In less than a decade, the solar-photovoltaic (PV) sector has transformed from a cottage industry centered in Germany to a $100 billion business with global reach. Among the factors contributing to its growth have been government subsidies, significant capacity additions from existing and new entrants, and continuous innovation. PV prices have fallen dramatically, and by 2011, global installed capacity exceeded 65 gigawatts (GW).1 Since 2011, the manufacturing capacity has grown multifold and currently stands above 300 gigawatts (GW). That’s a CAGR of more than 30%.
Indian Solar Industry has at the same time grown from 0.4 GW in 2011 to 12+ GW in 2017. Such growth is unprecedented in any industry!
