Ayushman Bharat: have the benefits of healthcare cost reductions been actually realized?
Abstract
The Ayushman Bharat scheme was launched by the Government of India on September 23, 2018 with the aim of providing roughly 110 million poor or vulnerable Indian families healthcare coverage up to Rs. 500,000 per year. Under this scheme, all individuals holding an Aadhar card and registered in the Socio Economic and Caste census database, are eligible to get free secondary and tertiary care in any of the public or empaneled private hospitals in the country.
