dc.description.abstractBlind People’s Association (BPA) is among the best run organization in the disability space. BPA aims to provide equal opportunities to all people with disabilities, and the right to an equal quality of life as their non-disabled peers. It works for providing quality life to blind people by ensuring equal rights, education, and opportunities for employment. BPA is undertaking various innovative activities and programs for empowering disabled people. They are running various institutes and courses like schools, a computer training centre, a national rehabilitation engineering institute, a bakery, an electronics training centre, and small food products manufacturing unit for disabled women, and a number of vocational courses. The evolution of BPA over the past 50 years has been driven by a cohesive culture driven by two different Managing Directors. Jagdish Patel, the founder was a visionary who hired the professionals in the NGO and brought in a culture of decentralization of power to the subordinates. This resulted in the development of a transparent culture which acts as the backbone for the organization. The recent growth of BPA is driven by this belief manifested in the organization by its donors.en_US
