    Abstract
The primary stakeholders of educational institutions are the students and the faculty. The existence of multiple stakeholders requires an approach that accounts for the incentives and objectives of all the stakeholders to achieve its strategic goals harmoniously. We surveyed the existing literature to understand the previous efforts undertaken to address this problem. We observe that most of the literature focuses primarily on the perspective of the student with the perspective of faculty obtained from experts. To understand the similarities and differences in objectives of the two stakeholders, we obtain information from both the stakeholders about their expectations. We analyse the factors that are mutually agreed upon by all the stakeholders. We finally obtain the primary sources of conflict or mismatch in expectations for both the stakeholders. We note that the factors which don’t yield obvious mutual benefits during the period of interaction are viewed less favourably by the stakeholders. The students don’t give prominence to research and industry connection of the professor while the professors don’t place emphasis on the grades awarded to the students. The organizations might need to take this into account while planning for organizational goals both strategically and tactically.
