Reshaping the fashion industry in the metaverse

Abstract

The science fiction writer Neal Stephenson first used the term "metaverse" in his 1992 book Snow Crash. The metaverse in his novel was a 3D virtual environment where software agents and human avatars might interact. A digital environment incorporating elements of social networking, online gaming, augmented reality, virtual reality, and cryptocurrency to enable user interaction digitally is the definition of the metaverse as it is currently understood (2012) (Investopedia). The term "extended reality" (XR), which encompasses all facets of augmented, virtual, and mixed reality, is another name for the meta verse (2022 Pew Research). (Dwivedi et al., 2022)
