The collaboration between academic institutions and government is one of the critical areas of input for the advancement of almost all fields of study, such as science and technology, public policy and management studies, etc. If the interactions are skilfully managed, the potential and output yield will be of tremendous worth. According to the recent developments and our experiences in technical and management institutions, this area has been overlooked without priority. By glancing at the student population present and interacting with students from diverse college backgrounds, it was clear that their willingness to work with the government is high, but the opportunities are limited. This motivated us to investigate the issues and causes for the limited nature of this collaborative effort, as well as what may be done to make the associations robust and consistent.en_US
