dc.description.abstract | With a common history spanning centuries, China and India are two of the most populous and culturally varied nations in the world. The two nations have separate cultures that are moulded by their distinctive histories, religions, languages, and social practises, despite their close proximity and many shared characteristics. For a greater understanding of these two nations, it is crucial to examine the cultural distinctions between India and China. Seeing popular media, such as web shows, via this lens can help comprehend these distinctions. Web series have become a significant influence in the entertainment industry in recent years, providing a platform for storytellers to explore the complexities of culture and society in a way that is understandable to viewers all over the world. Several web series like Mahabharata, Ramayana, Ashes of Love, Rise of Phoenix etc. created in China and India offer an insight into the cultural contrasts between these two nations. These programmes, which range from dramas to historical epics, provide a rich and nuanced depiction of daily life, social mores, and cultural values in China and India. They are helpful in learning more about the cultural distinctions that shape India and China by examining the topics, characters, and plotlines of web series from both countries. The analysis can be done by observing how Chinese online series emphasise the idea of collectivism and social harmony in daily life, or at how Indian web series frequently address the conflict between traditional values and modernization. These series are also a tool for cross-cultural communication and comprehension. They create bridges and promote culture similarities and understanding with viewers. Through a careful examination of these four web-series, the examination of the cultural distinctions between India and China was done. The focus was on how these two nations' cultural identities are shaped and influenced by one another. | en_US |
