Effect of sex and level of education on F-score: a cross cultural study
Abstract
Authoritarianism as a personality dimension is closely related to family and cultural
conditioning of the individual (Adorno, et al., 1950). This has been supported by a
number of studies of various subgroups within American culture as well as ~r~~s-cultural
groups. In their study of six cultural groups, Meade and Whittaker (1967) found the
Indian group to be extremely authoritarian followed by samples from Rhodesia, Hong
Kong, Arabia, Brazil, and USA in that order. Although no attempts have been made to
explain the findings, differences in religion, family structure, education, child rearing
practices, and political system, working alone or in interaction, may explain.
