Collective bargaining in the British chemical industry: a case study
Abstract
In this article the author has sought to analyse the process and
output of collective bargaining in the British chemical industry.
Having traced the evolution of collective bargaining, the author
presents a brief revieto of the issues and arguments raised. It is
shown that both trade unions and employers]' organization are
found to bargain in the atmosphere of mutual trust and good
faith. However, as a result of ?he growth in productivity agree
ments at the local level, the system of national bargaining has
been rendered ineffective. Consequently, a national framework
for productivity bargaining has been evolved.
