dc.description.abstractI n my last article I had mentioned about the Indian retailers are passing through a Bermuda Triangle. It looks like they would have to learn to live in this triangle for a long time, if the recent dip in the market is some indication. Every day you read it in the newspaper that the Indian Retail Industry is going through a tough situation. Stores are being closed, people are being retrenched, and visitors to the malls have come down. While people are trying to answer the difficult question of where has the money suddenly gone, there is also a need to appreciate the fact that the nosedive has been created because many dived into the sea head down without checking if they had the right swim gear and the capabilities. I would carry two lessons home from all this:
