Project Planning and Scheduling for Implementation
Abstract
This note deals with planning and scheduling implementation of projects. It begins by considering the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of a project as a fundamental requirement for development of planning and scheduling systems. Various methods of structuring the WBS of projects are first discussed at length, including ways of establishing coding structures. A conceptual framework for designing a planning and scheduling system is then put forth. The note next discusses typical types of project schedules. These considerations are integrated in the design of two types of planning and scheduling systems, multi-level scheduling and dual, multi-level scheduling. Finally the problem of planning and scheduling is viewed from the point of owner and contractor respectively.
