This note is meant to serve as an introduction to spreadsheet in management development programmes with a module on end-user computing. In several programmes it has already been used to introduce LOTUS 1-2-3 as a powerful tool for answering what-if questions in managerial problems. The ideal number of sessions for which the note is designed is three to five. There are six examples and eight exercises. Each class can be structured around one or two examples, followed by a session of computer laboratory. The features of LOTUS 1-2-3 discussed in the note are: design of formulae with relative and absolute addresses, sensitivity analysis using data tables, querying a data base, data arithmetic, key stroke macros, four functions for simple statistics, financial analysis, data operations, and data base statistics.en
