dc.description.abstract | This case describes the situation faced by the Instruments Group (IG) of ECIL, a multiproduct, multidivisional company. IG deals with a variety of instruments, both nuclear and non-nuclear. Its main feature is that it deals with a very wide variety of products, and many of these are sold in very competitive conditions. It has been a profitable area, but a ‘‘non thrust’‘ area. The case poses the problems of choice of the product mix, management of a wide variety of technologies and management of its investments with little or no budget support. | en |
