dc.description.abstractImplementing an integrated information system such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) promises tremendous benefits to the organization. However, there are several challenges and issues that organizations face while attempting to implement such a package. Examples include review of adoption of new business processes, integration of business processes across different departments, technical problems in integrating some existing packages with ERP, financial and technical problems in customizing the package to the organization’‘s requirements, and managing the people to adopt and use such packages effectively. This case highlights the challenges facing a textile manufacturing group – Ashima - in implementing an industry specific ERP. It highlights the benefits and issues likely to confront the organization in the future.en
