    Abstract
The process and consequences of introducing new technology vary from one organisation to another. A technology system is more than the sum of its techniques. Besides its technical capabilities, its success is also determined by how well it is adopted in the organisation. Studying the history of industrialisation, several authors have pointed out that after a time lag major technological changes have always induced significant changes in the organisational processes.
