dc.description.abstractI n the 1950s, when management education in India was still in an em bryonic stage, Dr Vikram Sarabhai, scientist, visionary, and a wellknown institution builder, foresaw the need for professionalization of management training and research in India. These objectives inspired him to set up the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1962. To create significant awareness on management concepts at the societal level and prepare the industry to use managerial concepts, he established the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA) in 1956 as a registered society and a charitable trust.
